A boldly reimagined and fully restored home on La Costa Beach in Malibu where Dolly Parton and Steve McQueen each once lived, and which was formerly owned by actor Stephen Dorff, is hitting the market for $9.8 million.
The house melds classic midcentury details including double-height cedar ceilings and shingles with of-the-moment maximalist design.
Originally built in 1969 by architects Buff & Hensman (known for designing Case Study House #20), the house is now owned by celebrity real estate brokers Branden and Rayni, who, consulting with interior designer Victoria Gillet, gave the property a top to bottom redesign.

Once known as The Brown House, the house has been redubbed The Endless Summer Malibu Beach House by the Williamses.
“I think Buff & Hensman are one of the greatest architects of all time,” Branden Williams tells The Hollywood Reporter. “If you love midcentury architecture and those deep woods, Buff & Hensman were the godfathers of warm, organic mid-century and there was no one better. They didn’t do a lot of beach houses, so to have one that has kept its purity is rare.”
The three-bedroom, three-bath house, located on Pacific Coast Highway, clocks in with 2,400 square feet of living space and is situated on a 4,883-square-foot lot with 40 feet of beach.
The Williamses bought the two-story house — which features a spiral staircase near the entry — from Dorff in 2019 for $7.5 million, according to public records. Branden tells THR that he and his wife are selling the house because “we bought another house on the beach, which is the largest lot on the beach, 120 feet in Malibu, and it’s just about to be completed.”
The couple’s redo of the house includes adding new Styleline floor-to-ceiling windows offering stunning ocean views, sunburnt orange onyx surfaces in the kitchen and bathroom, stained glass installations, bronze mirrors, wall-mounted Duravit black toilets and pounded brass sinks.
Throughout the home is also groovy New Zealand green shag wool carpeting. The primary suite includes a balcony from which to enjoy the sounds and sights of the surf.
Outside, a deck, a new cedar hot tub, a fire pit and an outdoor shower beckon. The property — listed with Branden and Rayni Williams of the Beverly Hills Estates — also includes a two-car garage.
Celebrities and power players who have lived on La Costa Beach over the years include David Spade, Ted Sarandos and Nicole Avant, Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne and Peter Morton.
